Hey all,
5) Unplug the Xbox One Controller. 6) Restart your PC. 7) Plug the controller again. Windows will install the driver automatically. 8) In Device Manager, right-click on the device and click Update Driver Software 9) Click Search automatically for Updated driver software. Then Windows will install a new driver automatically.
I was rummaging through the morass that is this ridiculous Xbox One Controller Driver issue and after having updated Windows (which is now apparently the only way to get the driver on Windows 7, bravo) my controller would connect to the PC, Windows recognized it but it simply wouldnt respond. That is to say, its in the device list. Windows says it works fine but if I go to the device properties to check the buttons and sticks, nothing responds, as if the controller is not plugged in or in fact working. This controller has worked wired to an Xbox one, so I thought I'd do a bit of troubleshooting and tried uninstalling the drivers. You know, so I could have Windows reinstall them for me because I must have mucked something up. Well now Windows doesnt have a driver for it and I dont know which of these conveniently labelled updates contains the relevant file. If anyone here knows which Windows Update for version 7 x64 has the controller driver in it and why after installing the driver a perfectly functional controller would still fail to respond, I'd appreciate hearing about it. I got this controller as a gift and its quite frustrating that it doesnt work.
