- Apple ships iBooks Author with a variety of different templates to get you up and running with your book right away. And we've already had a look at those templates in a previous movie, but in this movie I'd like to take a deep dive into all the component elements that make up a template. If you want to follow along with me, I've got just a blank, contemporary template opened up on-screen. Templates are all composed of three major types of layouts, and we've seen these before. The three types of layouts are chapters, sections and pages. All templates also have a variety of predefined styles for all of the text elements, and you can access the styles by hitting the little Styles button here on the toolbar, and you'll have a sidebar that'll pull out that'll show you all the different paragraph styles, character styles, and list styles that are used throughout the template. Additional Templates
I know some people had problems (and 1 person complains that all templates for iBooks are all the same) but sometimes additional starting places (fonts, colors, heading styles) are nice to have.
For each of these I was able to easily launch them into iBooks Author through this application, then save each different template as new. Now all of these show up in iBooks Author under “My Templates” (I coded the start of the names with “TiBAF” so I knew where they came from) and now I’m going to delete this app. I had no issues and it is nice to have some different things for inspiration.
