Game & Watch Gallery 4 is the only game of the series for the Game Boy Advance. It took almost 14 years to come out in Japan, for some reason.

Unused Graphics

A heart, found within the tiles for Boxing. It was probably originally used for the health meter.

Within the tiles for Mario's Cement Factory is an early graphic of Mario standing, which looks like his standing pose from Super Mario World.

A graphic of Luigi's head within the tiles of Mario Bros. Normally, no matter who loses, it displays Mario's head.

Within the tiles of Donkey Kong are some early graphics of Mario facing the player, left, and right.

A rather pleased looking Luigi found within the Gallery Corner tiles.

A tiny version of the octopus from Octopus.

Smaller sprites of Donkey Kong from Donkey Kong 3.

Smaller sprites of Wario from Fire Attack.

Waluigi's mugshot from Boxing with a twinkling eye.

Early
Final

Early sprites of Peach from Chef with less shading.

Early
Final

An early jumping sprite of Donkey Kong Jr. from Donkey Kong Jr., with his eyes looking up instead of forward.

Early
Final

Early sprites of Donkey Kong from Donkey Kong. His tie had different shading, he was more saturated, he wasn't smirking, and he was looking down more.

Larger graphics of Toad from Mario's Cement Factory.

'GBG', found within the Game Select background graphics. It stands for 'Game Boy Gallery'. It can be seen in early screenshots of the main menu.

A poorly done paint job on the Message Board, done with a completely flat red.

Various leftover copyrights from previous games of the series and from early versions. These copyrights are loaded into the game selection menu, oddly enough.

Texts loaded into the Gallery Corner, specifically Japanese names for the various places. However, the game was not released in Japan until the Virtual Console release.

Texts also loaded into the Gallery Corner, most likely test related.

A 'Transmission Error' sign in Japanese.

Coupled with the later copyright date, it could be determined that Game & Watch Gallery 4's planned Japanese release was sometime in early 2003.

Regional Differences

North AmericaEuropeJapan

In Europe, the game is called Game & Watch Gallery Advance. (Strangely enough, it's still called Game & Watch Gallery in Australia, even though the series was known as Game Boy Gallery there up to this point.) The trademark has also been moved to the Game & Watch part, whereas the Japanese version has no trademark at all. The background color of the copyright bar at the bottom is consistent with the numbers in the Japanese version.

International
Japan

The Japanese version has a message background consisting of a tiled sprite of Yoshi and an egg. The international versions also include a unique Toad background for game descriptions:

These are just as I remember them. I'm not sure if you have added some extra reverb at all, but it sounds wonderful. I feel this game gets forgotten and it's a shame because it has some fantastic music.
